Bring Hope, Emotional Intelligence, and Real-Life Resilience to Your Event

As a mother of a child with epilepsy, a women’s health nurse practitioner, and the co-author of Miles and the Colorful Capes of Feelings, I share a message that blends raw honesty, practical tools, and heart-centered storytelling.

For years, my son Miles endured seizures, medical emergencies, countless appointments, and a long journey toward clarity and stability. Our whole family entered a world we never expected—neurology visits, testing, medications, fear, bravery, and the deep emotional aftermath that no one prepares you for.

Along the way, I learned something powerful:

Kids don’t always have the words… but they always have feelings.

And those feelings need a place to land.

That is the heart of the Colorful Capes movement.

What I Speak About

→ Our Family’s Story: Living With Childhood Epilepsy

I openly share our journey through Miles’ epilepsy diagnosis, the uncertainty, the hospital stays, and the moments that changed us forever. I bring compassion, honesty, and a message of strength to families walking similar paths.

→ Parenting Through Medical Crisis + Raising Siblings Through It

I discuss the emotional load parents carry, the guilt and overwhelm, and how to balance the needs of siblings who are also deeply affected by a child’s medical diagnosis.

→  Mental Health Impact on the Whole Family

→  Helping Kids Express Emotions During Scary Appointments

Medical trauma doesn’t only impact the diagnosed child—it shifts the entire family system. I speak about:

  • childhood anxiety

  • fear around doctor visits

  • emotional withdrawal

  • sensory overload

  • parental burnout

  • the resilience practices that kept us grounded

Using the Colorful Capes of Feelings framework, I teach:

  • how to help children name, process, and release emotions

  • how to prepare kids for medical visits

  • how to support them when they cannot verbalize their fear

  • simple tools (color-based feelings, grounding, capes, touch, storytelling) that changed our life

→  Emotional Intelligence for Kids in Challenging Times

Whether the challenge is epilepsy, a chronic illness, anxiety, bullying, grief, or everyday overwhelm—children thrive with the right tools to express themselves. I offer:

  • child-friendly emotional regulation strategies
